Ex- Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
