Fans Urge Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barricade and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared footage depicts the Australian man shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast made its way down a promenade accompanied by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the next day. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma
Numerous followers accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another response on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while others requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be launched on November 21, is the second of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 award recognitions, winning two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
