Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
