The former Liverpool manager says a return to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains an option. Klopp, after a transformative nine-year spell that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

The club claimed the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with his interviewer: “I declared I won't manage another team in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“I’m 58, so the choice could be mine later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

When asked about what circumstances would need to occur to draw him back to the dugout, he revealed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the adjustments which secured the championship last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, though he denied the idea of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward

He shared movingly about the death of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother in July.

“Who can fill the void of such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad as well. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
