Triple MVP Nikola Jokic endures a 'devastating' knee injury.
Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury in the latter stages of the opening half in an accidental contact with team-mate Spencer Jones.
Jones stepped on the foot of the big man, and he promptly collapsed to the court holding his knee.
The star, that leads the league this season in boards and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game prior to suffering the setback.
Jokic will undergo an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem.
"Right away, he realized he was hurt," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever that gets hurt, it's tough to see, most notably somebody as important as Jokic. More information will come on Tuesday."
"We'll move on as a team. Clearly, at this moment, I'm more concerned just about him as a person and the letdown of experiencing something of that nature."
